A rich history of work and dedication!
“Finish School and complete your education no matter what will happen to us over here”
It is a pleasure to introduce myself to you, the residents of the great City of Dearborn, the City that I’ve called home my entire life here in America. My journey began 17 years ago when I immigrated to this great country.
Like the scores of millions of immigrants who preceded me, I embraced this journey with a mixture of apprehension and excitement.
I will readily admit the road taken was not always easy and stress free. It wasn’t easy when I started working a factory job at near minimum wage without knowing a word of English. And it wasn’t easy going to college and working full time. And it wasn’t easy working and studying nights on summer weekends when I could have played soccer or tennis. But deep down, I firmly believed that with a strong education and hard work, anything is possible in America. I learned to persevere from my dad, who lost his eyes and a leg during an accident more than 35 years ago.
By the grace of God, I was able to complete my Bachelor’s degree in 2012. That was followed with a Master’s degree in Cyber Security from the University of Detroit Mercy a couple of years later. Throughout my time as a professional leading multiple teams or a volunteer with the City of Dearborn as a Commissioner in the Recreations & Parks committee, I never forgot the Golden Rule–treat others as you’d like to be treated.
My wife and I are blessed with five children. Even though I’ve lived in Dearborn for 17 years, my connection to Dearborn runs deeper than that. My wife Fatima was born in Dearborn in the mid 80’s and my father in-law settled here more than a decade prior to that. I’ve spent the past 17 years working to improve my life in this great City. Now, I want to bring the same drive, passion and problem-solving vision as your City Council Member to improve the lives of ALL Dearborn residents. As Americans, it is our duty to make Dearborn a better place for our children and grandchildren. Join me in making Dearborn the greatest city in the world.
